HomeMy WebLinkAbout1966-04-26 - Board of Directors Meeting Minutes499 April 26, 1966 An adjourned meeting of the Board of Directors of the Yorba Linda County Water District was called to order at 8:30 A.M. April 25, 1966 by President Wagner. Roll Call: Directors present, Wagner, Hastings, Clodt and McGuire. Director Robert Milmoe absent. Also present Jim Erickson, attorney for the District. President Wagner turned the meeting over to General Manager Shook. Mr. Shook directed the Board's attention to a copy of a letter from Mr. Ken Child quoting an offer for the property at the north west corner of Imperial and 0linda. After discussion Manager was directed to contact Mr. Child and tell him that we are not ready at this time to build and so feel that we can not sell any of the property at this time, however the feeling is that the offer of $55,000.00 is adequate. A letter from Diehl and Evans Company regarding a raise of $100.00 in the yearly fee. Motion by Director Hastings, seconded by Director Clodt carried unanimously to accept the new contract. A letter from Neptune meter read and filed regarding a 107, raise in meter prices. A change in our Application for Water Service by the addition of a paragraph regarding liability for damages within a tract, motion by Director McGuire, seconded by Director Hastings carried un- animously to change the application by the addition of the following paragraph: 11 Applicant, also hereby agrees that he will assume all responsibility for damages and changes to District facilities within and adjacent to the construction site described in this Application caused by any person, firm or corporation working for, on behalf of or by direction of the applicant." Discussion on a maintenance contract with Alfernandez for the office machines., motion by Director McGuire seconded by Director Hastings carried unanimously to sign above contract. 3eneral Manager Shook stated the need for a second compressor and gave comparable prices on a new and used Ingersoll Rand. Motion by Director Clodt, seconded by Director McGuire authorizing the Manager to purchase a compressor either new or used at his own discretion. 10:00 A.M. Bids on Carbon Creek Sewer were opened: S-145- Hane Construction Company $15,264.00, Ecco $17,935.00 McCuthceon $ 7,654.00, Ivan C. Simoviceh $19,146.50 and A.S. Peich $16,405.65. Motion by Director Hastings, seconded by Director McGuire that the bids be referred to staff for future recommendations on Contract Bid. Job 288 - review - Mr. and Mrs. Guiffrida with a request to extend the one year limitation to a five year limit on the temporary ser- vice for their property on M rse. Discussion motion by Director 500 April 26, 1966 ( continued) Clodt seconded by Director Hastings that the Guiffridas be allowed to build a new home for-their occupancy, extend the time limit to five years, renewable as long as owner ship remains the same, and everything else in the previous decision to remain the same. A letter from International Oil Company was read by Art Korn, which clearly indicated that they felt they were not and could not have been responsible for the oil spill that Orange County Sanitation District # 2 had indicated came from their location. No correspondence -from Morgan Oil, tabled until more information is available. S"402 y Motion by Director Hastings, seconded by Director McGuire carried unanimously that the proper officers be authorized to execute the Agreement. S"103 Motion by Director McGuire,, seconded by Director Hastings carried unanimously that the proper officers be authorized to execute the Agreement. Mr. Korn asked that action be a taken regarding the 850' replacement of 10" line and approximately 600' on Mt. View as to service fees. Motion by Director McGuire, seconded by Director Clodt that service fees for these two sections would not be applicable or due but that the Easterly end was not a replacement so service fees would be due on this. Job 457 . discussion . Yorba Linda Nursery requests a chan"e in service from 1" mete`r' to 2" meter - staff recommendations that a fire hydrant also be included making a total cost of $647. Motion by Director Hastings, seconded by Director McGuire to accept staff recommendations. Job 456 Pursuant to the rules and regulations the application and exhibits were examined. It was moved by Director Clodt seconded by Director Hastings carried unanimously that the staff recommendations be approved. Job 450" Pursuant to the rules and regulations the application for service was examined. Motion by Director Clodt, seconded by Director McGuire carried unanimously to accept staff recommendations. Motion by Director Hastings, seconded by Director Clodt to approve payment of refunds in the amount of $599.20 check 7961 through 7977 and bills in the amount of-$17,519.47, checks 7978 through 8012, motion carried unanimously. Motion by Director McGuire seconded by Director Clodt carried un" animously granting the Directors permission to leave the State for. either business or pleasure between this meeting and the next regular meeting of the Board of Directors.
