DIRECTORS PRESENT Ric Collett, Chair Michael Beverage STAFF PRESENT Michael A. Payne, General Manager Mike Robinson, Public Information Officer ACTION ITEMS 1. Review 2006 Annual Report. The Committee reviewed plans for publication of the Annual Report and provided direction to staff. The committee agreed to have the annual report published in June 2. May Water Awareness Month Open House and Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Administration Building. The Committee discussed the plans for a groundbreaking ceremony/open house to be held on Saturday, May 5, 2007 in conjunction with Water Awareness Month and provided direction to staff. 3. Letter of Support for AB 1260. The Committee discussed this bill and directed staff to prepare a letter of support to be sent to Assembly member Caballero and the District's legislative representatives. 4. Letter of Support for the Municipal Water District of Orange County grant applications for hotel water use reduction and multi-stream and trajectory rotating landscape irrigation nozzles. The Committee reviewed these issues and directed staff to prepare letters of support. STANDING ITEMS 5. Smart Timer Program. The committee reviewed recent activity within the District. There were 9 smartimer valves installed within the District in February. 6. MWDOC School Program. This program provides comprehensive water issues education to elementary school students. There was nothing new to report. 7. Press Releases. The Committee reviewed two releases concerning the MWD Diemer shutdown and water conservation alert. 8. District GIS. The Committee reviewed this issue and provided direction to staff. 9. District internet web site. The Committee discussed the update of information on the web site. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS 10. Report on the seven day shut-down of MWD's Diemer Filtration Plant. The Committee reviewed this event and the District response and cooperation with other agencies to avert a water shortage. 11. Submittal of Claire A. Hill agency award for excellence. The Committee discussed the status of the District's entry and stated staff would apply again next year. 12. District tour for elected officials. The committee discussed the cancellation of this event. 13. Status Report on District Information Activities. The Committee reviewed upcoming District events. ADJOURNMENT The committee adjourned at 11:25 a.m. The next Public Information Committee is scheduled for May 1, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. at the District Headquarters, 4622 Plumosa Drive, Yorba Linda.
