Ile, MINUTES OF THE YORBA LINDA WATER DISTRICT PUBLIC INFORMATION COMMITTEE March 6, 2006 A meeting of the Public Information Committee was called to order by Committee Chair William Mills at 4:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the District Headquarters, 4622 Plumosa Drive, Yorba Linda. DIRECTORS PRESENT William R. Mills, Chair Ric Collett STAFF PRESENT Michael A. Payne, General Manager Mike Robinson, Public Information Officer ACTION ITEMS 1. West Coast Maaazine storv for the April edition. The topic for this edition is water conservation. The story describes what homeowners can do to save water on landscape irrigation and other outdoor uses. The committee reviewed the text and provided direction. 2. Request for sponsorship of the annual Children's Water Education Festival., The committee reviewed this event and the District's participation in the form of a $500.00 contribution. 3. Request for sponsorship of the River of Life Conference. The committee reviewed this event and directed staff to learn more about it. STANDING ITEMS 4. Smart Timer Program. The program involves rebates for residential, commercial and industrial customers to install landscape irrigation controllers that adjust watering to current and historical weather conditions. The committee reviewed the program and participation within the District. 5. MWDOC School Proaram. This program provides comprehensive water issues education to elementary school students. The Bryant Ranch School is scheduled to participate in the program in April. The committee reviewed the program and participation within the District. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS 6. Open House at Richfield Plant. The committee discussed this event to be held in May during California Water Awareness Month. The Open House will feature displays of equipment, wells, the computerized water distribution control system and "mini-tours" of District facilities and the Santa Ana River groundwater recharge operation. ADJOURNMENT The committee adjourned at 5:10 p.m.
