PUBLIC INFORMATION COMMITTEE JUN
June 6, 2006
A meeting of the Public Information Committee was called to order by Committee Chair iliam
Mills at 8:00 a.m. The meeting was held at the District Headquarters, 4622 Plumosa Drive,
Yorba Linda.

ACTION ITEMS
1. West Coast Maaazine storv for the Julv edition. The committee reviewed text pertaining
to the LAFCO municipal services review and sphere of influence study for Yorba Linda
Water District and provided direction to staff.
2. Article for Water Lines newsletter. The committee reviewed the text pertaining to the
status of the Bryant Ranch water rights claim and provided direction to staff.
STANDING ITEMS
3. Smart Timer Proaram. This program involves rebates for residential, commercial and
institutional customers to install landscape irrigation controllers that adjust watering to
current and historical weather conditions. During the month of April seven controller
stations were funded, for a total of 212 for the current year. YLWD is hosting a
presentation on the Smart Timer Program for the Cities of Yorba Linda and Placentia,
the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District and homeowner's associations on June
7, 2006. The committee reviewed the program and participation within the District.
4. MWDOC School Proaram. This program provides comprehensive water issues
education to elementary school students. Approximately 700 students from within the
District participated during the school year that is now concluding. The goal of the
program is to reach 80,000 students throughout Orange County each school year.
