HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006-09-06 - Public Information Committee Meeting MinutesITEM NO. ✓2 MINUTES OF THE WROAD BY THE BOARD Of DIRECTORS Of THE YORBA LINDAWATER DISTRICT YORBA LINDA WATER DISTRICT PUBLIC INFORMATION COMMITTEE S E P 14 2 September 6, 2006 sy-- - A meeting of the Public Information Committee was called to order by Committee Chair William Mills at 8:00 a.m. The meeting was held at the District Headquarters, 4622 Plumosa Drive, Yorba Linda. DIRECTORS PRESENT William R. Mills, Chair Ric Collett ACTION ITEMS 1. None STANDING ITEMS STAFF PRESENT Michael A. Payne, General Manager Mike Robinson, Public Information Officer 2. District Information Activities. The Committee reviewed the District's participation in several public activities in the coming months including the American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life" held on August 11 and 12, the District Facilities Tour on September 16, Placentia Heritage Days Parade on October 14, and the Yorba Linda Fiesta Days Parade and Fair on October 28. 3. Smart Timer Program. This program involves rebates for residential, commercial and institutional customers to install landscape irrigation controllers that adjust watering to current and historical weather conditions The committee reviewed a program information card that will be sent out to all customers in their water bills. 4. MWDOC School Proaram. This program provides comprehensive water issues education to elementary school students. The program is in hiatus during the summer months. 5. West Coast Maoazine storv for the October edition. The committee reviewed text pertaining to home water conservation and provided direction to staff. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS 6. Information Meeting in "Low-pressure" Neiahborhood. The committee reviewed plans to hold a "curb-side" information meeting on September 12. The neighborhood is located near the intersection of Yorba Linda BI. And Village Center Drive. All of the invited homeowners live on Via Del Buey. 7. Publication of LAFCO Municioal Service Report. The committee reviewed plans to forward the report to public officials and other interested parties. 8. Facilities Tour for Elected Officials. The committee reviewed plans to host a tour of YLWD facilities for members of city councils and other officials. 8. Placentia Chamber of Commerce. The committee discussed the possibility of joining this body. The Committee suggested holding off until construction of the new administration building was underway. ADJOURNMENT The committee adjourned at 8:55 a.m.
