PLANNING-ENGINERING-OPERATIONS COMMITTEE DEC
December S, 2004 - 4:00 p.m.
A meeting of the Planning-Engineering-Operations Committee was called to order by
Committee Chairman Michael J. Beverage at 4:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the
District Headquarters, 4622 Plumosa Drive, Yorba Linda.

3. Vehicle and Equipment Purchases. Mr. Cory led a discussion regarding staffs
research into options for purchasing more fuel efficient vehicles for some of the
smaller pool vehicles. The committee discussed the strengths and weaknesses of
various alternative fuel and hybrid vehicles currently available as well as the
District's past practice of only soliciting bids from dealers of domestic brand
vehicles. The committee agreed that the Board did not set a policy to purchase
only domestic brand vehicles. Director Beverage stated that long term value and
durability should be considered as well as fuel economy when considering vehicle
purchases.
4. Vacuum extraction excavator. Mr. Cory discussed a recommendation to combine
budget allocations originally intended to purchase a vacuum excavator and a closed
circuit television truck for sewer inspections, into one purchase of a more expensive
heavy duty vacuum extraction excavator. The Committee discussed this matter
and supported Mr. Cory's recommendation to bring this matter to the full Board for
consideration.
The committee adjourned at approximately 5:00 p.m.
