HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-05-15 - Planning-Engineering-Operations Committee Meeting MinutesITEM NO. /7 AGENDA REPORT DATE: May 23, 2002 TO: President and Members of the Board FROM: Planning-Engineering-Operations Committee APPROVED 9 THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE VORBA LINDA WATER DISTRICT. 002 ~N SUBJECT: Summary Minutes of the Planning-Engineering-Operations Committee Meeting The Planning-Engineering-Operations Committee held a meeting on May 15, 2002. Present were John Summerfield, Art Kom, Bill Robertson, Ken Vecchiarelli, Lee Cory, Nem Ochoa and Ray Hahn. The following items were discussed: 1. Richfield Plant Renovation. Mr. Hahn and Mr. Vecchiarelli reported on the progress of the renovation project at the Richfield Plant. Mr. Hahn showed pictures of the work in progress and discussed several small changes requested by the District. These changes were within the spending authority of the Engineering Manager and did not affect the project completion time. Another pending change order requested by the contractor involved additional paving. The Board will consider this item at their regular meeting of May 23, 2002. Mr. Hahn also reported staff is currently reviewing the Consultant Agreement with Osborn Architects for additional construction management and inspection services. Staff will present this matter for the Board's consideration at a later date. 2. Well No. 18 status report. Mr. Hahn and Mr. Vecchiarelli reported on the well development and pump testing of the new groundwater production well at the Richfield Plant. Richard Slade and Associates, the project hydrogeologist, will submit a full report on these results and make recommendations for the final design and equipping of the well. Mr. Hahn left the meeting following this discussion. 3. District Project Updates. Mr. Vecchiarelli reported that a preliminary design meeting would be held on Thursday, May 16, 2002 to kick off the well equipping and chlorination conversion projects at the Richfield Plant. Mr. Vecchiarelli also reported that staff was ready to recommend a consultant agreement for design of the Well No. 15 transmission pipeline to Richfield Road. The Board will consider action on this item at their regular meeting of May 23, 2002. 4. Geographic Information Systems Implementation Plan. Mr. Ochoa joined the meeting at this time and a discussion was held regarding the District's GIS Implementation Plan. Mr. Ochoa presented a summary of questions and answers from meetings he and Mr. Vecchiarelli held with Director Summerfield on two separate occasions regarding the Director's questions specific to the implementation plan. The Committee discussed the project at length and recommended future discussions at a later date.
