SUBJECT: Summary Minutes of the Public Information Committee Meeting
The Public Information Committee held a meeting on April 6, 2004. Present were directors
Paul Armstrong and Arthur Korn and staff representative Ken Vecchiarelli. The following
items were discussed:
Zone 2 Transmission Pipeline - Public Information Plan. Mr. Vecchiarelli outlined staff's
proposed approach for a public outreach and communications plan to inform the affected
community about this large pipeline project. The Committee discussed this plan and
offered suggestions to include communications with the staff reporter for the Yorba Linda
Star and possible use of the Orange County Register as well. Staff will follow through with
implementation of the plan elements as suggested.
2. Water Awareness Month - Open House May 8. Mr. Vecchiarelli reported on staff's
preparations for the Open House to be held at the Richfield Operations and Maintenance
Facilities. The Committee again suggested utilization of the local news reporters as an
additional method of notifying the public of the event.
3. Consumer Confidence Report. Mr. Payne joined the meeting at this time and handed out a
draft letter for the Committee to review. The letter was addressed to California State
Assembly Member Lynn Daucher expressing concerns about the costs associated with the
preparation and mailing of the report and offered suggestions for less costly methods of
communicating the information to the public.
