YORBA LINDA WATER DISTRICT AUG 2 004 PUBLIC INFORMATION COMMITTEE AUGUST 3, 2004 Br A meeting of the PUBLIC INFORMATION COMMITTEE was called to order by Committee Chair Paul Armstrong at 4:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the District Headquarters, 4622 Plumosa Drive, Yorba Linda. Directors Present at Roll Call: Paul R. Armstrong, Chair Arthur C. Korn Also Present: None Staff Present: Michael A. Payne, General Manager Mike Robinson, Public Information Officer Art Vega, Systems Administrator Ken Vecchiarelli, Asst. General Manager 1. Central Yorba Linda Transmission Pipeline oroiect. The Committee reviewed public outreach activities directed toward customers that will be affected by the project. These activities included walking the route and providing an information packet to residents and businesses, and a public meeting to explain the project and address concerns held on July 22 at the Richfield Plant. 2. Review text of Water Lines newsletter.. The Committee reviewed two stories for the newsletter: A discussion of the state budget agreement and how it impacts the District as well as other financial issues related to water rates; and a description of the Central Yorba Linda pipeline project. 3. Web Site Update. The Committee reviewed on-going updates to information presented on the District's internet web site and a statistical breakdown of access activity by the public. 4. YLWD Facilities Tour. The Committee reviewed plans to reintroduce the District's bus tour of its facilities, suspended following the events of 9-11-01. The tour will include an expanded look at features of the Richfield Plant and a bus tour of outlying District facilities including reservoirs and booster stations and the groundwater recharge operations of the Santa Ana River. 5. MWDOC Inspection Tour Dates. The Committee reviewed 2004-2005 dates for tours of the Diamond Valley Reservoir, California State Water Project and the Colorado River Aqueduct. 6. American Cancer Society "Relav for Life". The Committee reviewed the District's participation in this event scheduled for August 13 and 14. These activities include providing ice water in the District's sports bottles and maintaining a "mister" to cool relay participants.
