Summary minutes of Public Information Committee meeting
The Public Information Committee met on February 18, 2003. Directors Paul Armstrong and
Mike Beverage, General Manager Bill Robertson and Public Information Officer Mike Robinson
were present.
The following items were presented:
1. Business card data. The committee discussed adding water related statistics and/or the
District's Mission Statement to the back of business cards.
2. Water bottles. The committee discussed designing and distributing a new edition of these
popular items to the public at special events and at the District office.
3. Toilet eiveawav event. Mr. Robinson reported that next event will be held on Saturday, April
12, in the education center parking lot.
4. Richfield Plant Dedication. The committee discussed a dedication ceremony to open the newly
remodeled facility. The event is scheduled for Friday afternoon, May 2, in conjunction with
Water Awareness Month.
5. Richfield Plant Onen House. The committee discussed holding this event for the general
public on Saturday morning, May 3, in conjunction with Water Awareness Month.
6. Blue "Water Dron". The committee discussed creating a "keepsake" item to be given away at
the Richfield Plant Dedication and Open House.
7. Potential loss of tax revenue information to be included in District newsletter. The committee
discussed providing information to the public via the "Water Lines" newsletter.
8. Information to rate havers reeardinE "20 vear sunnly of water". The committee discussed
providing clarifying information on this topic to the public via the "Water Lines" newsletter.
9. Fluoridated water. The committee discussed the implications of Metropolitan Water District's
announcement that they would begin fluoridating imported water.
10. Restaurant water conservation cards. The committee discussed the desirability of providing
water conservation "table cards" to restaurants and encouraging the provision of glasses of
water to guests only on request.
11. Other. Mr. Robinson reported that the District will assist in providing water to participants of
Mable Paine School's upcoming "jog-a-thon" on April 4.
