RESOLUTION NO. 77-11
RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE YORBA LINDA COUNTY
WATER DISTRICT ESTABLISHING A NEW CLASSIFICATION AND ADDITION
TO SALARY RESOLUTION NO. 76-10
WHEREAS, it is necessary from time to time to review classifications
in the current salary resolution, and
WHEREAS, due to an increased work load in engineering and field
inspection,
NOW, THEREFORE IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED that the following position
be created and made a part of the salary resolution No.
76-10 of the District.

$1000 - $1400

(Salary Range to be reviewed 6/30/77)
SUMMARY:
Under supervision of the senior engineering aide, perform
inspection of the installation of sewer and water facilities
in accordance with Plans and Specifications of the Water
District. Establish and maintain effective working relation-
ship with contractors, officials and the general public.
During times of limited construction activity, inspector
will assist the following departments, engineering, field
foreman, buyer and stores supervisor.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
1) Provide detailed inspection of methods and materials used
in the construction of water and sewer facilities including:
mainline sewers, manholes and service laterals, cleanouts,
excavation and backfill of trenches, installation of all water
mains, fittings, service connections and fire hydrants of
subdivision and construction projects, provide technical guid-
ance to personnel performing the construction activities.
2) Maintain an accessible file of accurate and up-to-date pro-
gress reports of all inspection projects including personnel,
equipment and materials used on the job; interpret plans and
make corrections to both job and plans as needed; indicate
Ilas builts" of all projects on plans and record daily notes;
coordinate in-field job changes as required to insure effect-
ive performance; insure prints conform to actual work in progress.
3) Responsible for the safety of personnel following OSHA
regulations; examine equipment to insure proper safety stand-
ards are met; verify adequate safety precautions are observed
throughout construction activities in such areas as: material
and equipment handling, trench excavation, traffic control,
construction site maintenance and protective clothing.
4) Verify the proper location and elevation of the installations
prior to start of activities and after completion of work; en-
force conditions of the permit and check work for compliance

to plans and specifications; approve completed work and pre-
pare reports for superior.
5) Assist various departments as follows:
Engineering:
Field investigation, utility records search and survey
crew.
Field Foreman:
Help coordination field crew activity.
Buyer and Stores Supervisor:
Inventory Control
Applications to be returned to the Water District office by 4/22/77.
Minimum education and experience:
(Starting salary to depend on qualifications)
Any combination equivalent to:
1. Graduation from high school, including or supplemented by
courses in drafting, algebra and geometry.
2. Five years experience of sub-professional engineering,
construction work, (college training in civil engineering
may be substituted for 2 years of required experience on
a year to year basis.)
3. Knowledge of survey and drafting procedures, instruments
and equipment.
4. Knowledge of methods and practices of water and sewer
inspection.
5. Possession of a valid drivers license Class 3.
