HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-05-13 - Resolution No. 82-1600 RESOLUTION 82-16 RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF YORBA LINDA COUNTY WATER DISTRICT, ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING THE PURCHASE OF AN ACWA/JPIA OFFICE BUILDING WHEREAS, on June 21, 1979 the Yorba Linda County Water District Board of Directors authorized the joining of the Association of California Water Districts - Joint Powers Insurance Agency (ACWA/JPIA); and WHEREAS, the primary purpose of this District' participation in the ACWA/JPIA was, and continues to be, to reduce the cost of insurance purchased by the District and thereby reduce its cost of providing water and sewer service to its customers; and WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the District has reviewed and considered various reports, position papers and correspondence regarding the issue of whether ACWA/JPIA should purchase an office building and regarding other associated administrative issues; and WHEREAS, the Board of Directors believes the purchase of an ACWA/JPIA office building to be inconsistant with the primary purpose of reducing the cost of insurance for this District; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the Yorba Linda County Water District that this District is opposed to the purchase of an ACWA/JPIA office building and the District's representative on the ACWA/JPIA Board of Directors is instructed to make this position known to the representatives of other agencies in the ACWA/JPIA by presentation of this resolution to the ACWA/JPIA Board of Directors; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this District's representative is requested to consider the other associated administrative issues of the ACWA/JPIA 00 in light of the primary purpose of obtaining and maintaining reduced insurance costs for this District and to represent this District position as a member of the ACWA/JPIA.
