HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989-07-27 - Resolution No. 89-270 4 RESOLUTION NO. 89-27 RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE YORBA LINDA WATER DISTRICT AMENDING SECTIONS OF THE PERSONNEL RULES WHEREAS, on May 8, 1980 by adoption of Resolution No. 80-11, the Board of Directors of the Yorba Linda Water District established District Personnel Rules, and WHEREAS, the Personnel Rules provide in Section 1.4.2 that the rules may be amended from time to time by the Board, and WHEREAS, the Board has subsequently amended the rules, and desires to further amend the Rules. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the Yorba Linda Water District as follows: _$ection 1: That the following section be added: Section 1.7 - Sex►gl Harassment 1.7.1 Yorba Linda Water District is committed to providing a working environment that is free of all forms of discrimination. It is the District's policy that sexual harassment in the workplace is prohibited. 1.7.2 Sexual harassment includes, but is not limited to: The granting of special privileges, conditions of employment or tangible job benefits based on gender or the promise or granting of social or sexual favors; Suggestive, obscene or lewd verbal comments or "cat calls;" Suggestive, obscene or lewd physical gestures; Physical contact which is offensive to the object of such actions; Obvious visual "leering" which is offensive to the object of such actions; The threat or filing of false sexual harassment complaints with the object being the damage of the accused person's reputation. 1. 7.3 An employee who believes he or she has been or is being sexually harassed by a fellow worker, supervisor or any person while on the job should take the following steps: Politely but firmly tell the person that the behavior is unwanted and offensive to you, and that you want the behavior to stop; If the unwanted behavior does not stop at this point, or if the offended employee feels particularly uncomfortable in discussing the matter with the person subject to the complaint, then the offended employee must report the facts of the incident or incidents and the name or names of the persons involved to his or her Supervisor, Department Head, the Personnel Officer or the Personnel Officer's designee. 1.7.4 Supervisors and Department Heads must immediately report allegations of sexual harassment to the Personnel Officer or the Personnel Officer's designee, who will initiate an investigation of the matter. 1.7.5 The Personnel Officer or the Personnel Officer's designee will interview all of the persons involved, as well as any witnesses. Persons who are a party to the complaint will be notified of the results of the investigation. 1.7.6 Employees who are found to violate this rule are subject to disciplinary procedures. motion 2: That the following section be deleted: Section 10.5 - Den#ol Insqrgnce Dental insurance is provided by the District for all regular full-time employees after they have worked for two full calendar months. The District pays the premium for the employees' portion of the dental insurance. The designation or change of carrier shall be at the District's option. That the section be amended to read: Section 10.5 - Dentgl InsQWnce 0 4 Dental insurance is provided by the District for all eligible employees and their eligible dependents after the employee has worked for two full calendar months. The District pays the full dental insurance premium for eligible employees, and 213 of the premium for eligible dependents. The designation or change of carrier shall be at the District's option.
