PUBLIC INFORMATION - TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE MEETING
September 7, 2007
A meeting of the Yorba Linda Water District Public Information-Technology
Committee was called to order by Committee Chair Ric Collett at 8:30 a.m. The
meeting was held at the District Administration Office at 4622 Plumosa Drive,
Yorba Linda.

INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND PUBLIC COMMENTS:

1. None
DISCUSSION ITEMS:
2. MWD Fluoridation Update at Robert F. Diemer Filtration Plant. Leon de los
Reyes gave an update to the committee on MWD's plan to add fluoridation to
all imported water. The start up date has been rescheduled to November 19.
A meeting has been scheduled with the cities of Yorba Linda and Placentia,
and the Placentia Yorba Linda Unified School District to brief them on
YLWD's plan to inform the citizens within the District.
Leon and John left the meeting at the conclusion of item 2.
3. Water Rate Public Hearing Schedule. Michael Payne presented the
committee with a timeline for the scheduling of a public hearing on a water
rate report. The committee agreed to schedule a hearing on December 13,
2007.
4. The committee discussed the water pressure enhancement program in the
twin peaks area and also on moving ahead with the third phase being notified
by mail.
5. An update on the Smar-Timer rebate program was presented. The
committee reviewed the latest report on the Smar-Timer Program. The
committee asked a question about the amount of refunds. Michael Payne
also reported that a revised agreement from MWDOC was being reviewed by
staff.

6. A status report on District Information activities was presented.
a. The Placentia Heritage Days Parade will take place on October 13. A
District float will appear in the parade.
b. The Yorba Linda Fiesta Days Parade will be held October 27. A
District float will appear in the parade and the District will man a public
information booth.
c. The School Education Program was discussed briefly. Staff will
distribute coloring books and pencils to all elementary schools within the
District.
7. District's Web-site. Art Vega gave an update on the District's web-site and on
the number of hits in the various categories of the site.
8. District's GIS. Art Vega gave an update on two proposals received for Phase
I of the District's GIS system. The committee asked several questions about
the process. This item will be returned to committee in October with a
recommendation to award a consultants agreement.
ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting adjourned at 9:44 a.m. The next meeting of the Public Information-
Technology Committee is scheduled for October 2, 2007 at 4:00 p.m.
