PUBLIC INFORMATION COMMITTEE % August 7, 2006
A meeting of the Public Information Committee was called to order by Committee Chair illiam
Mills at 4:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the District Headquarters, 4622 Plumosa Drive,
Yorba Linda.

ACTION ITEMS
Reportina Reauirements for Future Water and Sewer Rate Adjustments. The Committee
discussed the effect of a recent California Supreme Court decision on the District's rate
setting processes and public notification requirement.
STANDING ITEMS
2. District Information Activities. The Committee reviewed the District's participation in
several public activities in the coming months. The American Cancer Society's "Relay
for Life" is August 11 and 12. A District Facilities Tour is tentatively scheduled for
September 16. Placentia Heritage Days Parade is October 14. The Yorba Linda Fiesta
Days Parade and Fair is October 28.
3. Smart Timer Proaram. This program involves rebates for residential, commercial and
institutional customers to install landscape irrigation controllers that adjust watering to
current and historical weather conditions. During the month of May 87 commercial
controller stations and during June 26 residential stations were funded, for a total of 325
for the current year. The committee reviewed the program and participation within the
District.
4. MWDOC School Proaram. This program provides comprehensive water issues
education to elementary school students. The program is in hiatus during the summer
months.
5. West Coast Maaazine story for the August edition. The committee reviewed text
.pertaining to the "Smartimer" landscape irrigation program and water conservation and
provided direction to staff.
