AD HOC COMMITTEE
January 17, 2005
A meeting of the Yorba Linda Water District-Orange County Water District Ad Hoc Committee
was called to order by Committee Chair Michael J. Beverage at 4:00 p.m. The meeting was
held at the District Headquarters, 4622 Plumosa Drive, Yorba Linda.

MTBE Plume
Roy Herndon provided the Committee with a status report of the MTBE Plume in the area of
Orangethorpe Avenue west of Imperial Highway. The MTBE plume caused Southern
California Water Company to shut down one of their wells. The committee discussed the
importance of drilling a monitoring well east of the District's main plant in order to monitor
the movement of water prior to it reaching the District's well(s). OCWD agreed to work with
YLW D to investigate potential sites for a monitoring well.
2. Modeling of underground basin at the Richfield Plant.
Roy Herndon provided the Committee with a status report on the modeling of the
underground basin at the Richfield Plant. It was determined that YLWD should shut down
and monitor certain wells during the pumping of Well 19 and also when Warner basin is
drained. OCWD agreed to assist.
3. Shell Oil Lawsuit
Virginia Grebbien provided the Committee with a status report of the lawsuit settlement
agreement between the District Attorney and Shell Oil Company. This lawsuit stemmed
from the cleanup of MTBEs in various soil locations throughout Orange County.
4. Status of Santa Ana River flows
Virginia Grebbien provided the Committee with a status report of the Santa Ana River flows.
Due to the inflow and the seepage discovered at the Prado dam, the Corp of Engineers
released a total of 10,000 cfs of water from behind the Dam. The elevation of water stored
went from 528' to 505' in 4 days. The level is at 498'. Virginia also commented on the
Seven Oaks Dam and the San Antonio River.
5. Property Tax Task Force
Virginia Grebbien reported that she was appointed to the ACWA Property Tax Task Force.
Virginia provided the Committee with background history and a summary of actions the
Task Force Committee will be taking this year.
The committee adjourned at 5:35 p.m.
