Present were President John W. Summerfield and Director Arthur C. Kom. Staff members present were Michael A. Payne and Pamela J. Pietras. The following items were discussed: 1. Risk Management Activities: Michael Payne updated the Committee with an overview of the Workers' Compensation Claims for fiscal years 1998/1999 to the present. 2. ACWA Liability Insurance: Michael Payne updated the Committee on claims tiled against the District and claims that the YLWD has filed against others. 3. Recruitments: Pamela Pietras gave a status report on current recruitments. Presently, there are four open recruitments for positions at the District. They are: Maintenance Worker 1, Plant Operator I or II, Water Quality Engineer, and Information Systems Technician I. Future recruitments include: Meter Services Technician and Water Quality Technician. Director Korn suggested that a status report be created so that Board approved positions could be tracked. 4. Job Descriptions: Michael Payne provided the committee with several samples of job descriptions for discussion. The committee discussed various formats that included examples of duties and qualifications. 5. Other: Michael Payne reported the District has received a grievance from the employees association dealing with two District employees. The Personnel Officer will review and handle the grievance.
