HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003-10-07 - Personnel-Risk Management Committee Meeting MinutesITEM NO. / 40 AGENDA REPORT DATE: October 23, 2003 TO: President and Members of the Board FROM: Personnel-Risk Management Committee SUBJECT: Summary Minutes of the Personnel-Risk Management Committee Meeting The Personnel-Risk Management Committee held a meeting on October 7, 2003. Present were President John W. Summerfield and Director Arthur C. Korn. Staff members present were William J. Robertson, Michael A. Payne, Kenneth R.Vecchiarelli and Pamela J. Pietras. The following items were discussed: Recruitment: Pamela Pietras gave a status report on current recruitments. Job offers were extended to six individuals for the position of Maintenance Worker 1. Staff has also filled the position of Plant Operator 11. Leon de los Reyes was promoted to the position of Water Quality Engineer. Other recruitments pending include Information Systems Technician I, Project Engineer, and Meter Services Technician. 2. Declaration of Restrictive Covenants: Klingaman and Nickerson. Ken Vecchiarelli updated the committee on a proposed Declaration of Restrictive Covenants Agreement with Mr. & Mrs. Karl Klingaman and Mr. & Mrs. Donald Nickerson that is scheduled for the October 90' Board of Directors meeting. Risk-Management Claims: Mike Payne provided the committee with an update of three claims that were filed as a result of the September 11, 2003 water main breaks. There have been three minor accidents involving District vehicles. The Safety Committee is investigating the incidents. The District has also received one grievance dealing with two District employees that believe they are working out side of their classification. The grievance was denied. 4. Health Fair: Pamela Pietras provided the committee with an update on the Health & Benefit Fair which will be on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Richfield Plant. M. D. Medical Clinic will be there providing flu shots... Many of the organizations that provide benefits to the District will have a representative there to provide materials and to answer employee's questions. 5. Employee Assistance Program: Mike Payne shared the most recent copy of the Employee Assistance Program Report by Dorris and Associates. 6. Other: Mike Payne reported on the upcoming Board Agenda item #14 which would amend the District's agreement with CalPER's to provide a level four death benefit to families of employee's that die before they retire.
