1. Materials of Construction
The committee discussed three options for the exterior wall construction for the
Admin Building : 1) Wood and Plaster, 2) Masonry Block and 3) Tilt-up. Overall
Masonry block would provide a more durable facility with lower annual
maintenance and be compatible with the existing structures. A combination smooth
block and plaster would be incorporated on the front facade. Gillis & Associates will
review roofing systems, which would provide an extended warranty life over 25
years. The committee recommended the architect proceed with the design using
masonry as the material of construction for the new office facility.
2 Photovoltaic Solar Panels
Hank Samaripa presented a brief overview of the cost and benefits in incorporating
photovoltaic solar panels in the new facility. At this time the rebate program is
uncertain and unpredictable to warrant further investigation or investment.
However, Director Summerfield suggested the roof be designed such that
photovoltaics could be incorporated at a future date when it becomes more
economically feasible. The added costs for such a roof design modification would
be minimal (approx. $20,000) and would be a foundation for the exploration of
alternative in the future.
3. Front Fa9ade/ Water Feature
Director Beverage requested the architect prepare
feature options to be presented to the full board.
The committee adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
