SUBJECT. Summary Minutes of the Executive Committee Meeting
' The Executive Committee held a meeting on February 17, 1994. Present were Carl T. Scanlin,
Mike Beverage and William Robertson. The following items were discussed at the meeting:
' 1 . "State of the District" meeting. Mr. Robertson reported that on March 17, he will
conduct a "State of the District" meeting with all employees. The purpose is to replace the
annual employee survey with mandatory employee meeting to discuss issues about the District,
it's future and major goals for the year. Mr. Robertson also reported that this meeting is a good
' opportunity to distribute items such as shirts, hats and pins to employees in celebration of 85
years of service to the community. The Committee discussed the matter and offered advice to
staff.
' 2. Safe Drinking Water Act reauthorization. Mr. Robertson reported that ACWA asked all
agencies to contact their local representatives to support HR 3392 which makes several
' revisions to the Safe Drinking Water Act. HR 3392 has strong support by a broad coalition of
congressman and is favored by the water industry. Congressman Jay Kim is already on-board
as a co-sponsor of the bill, so staff will write a letter for the President's signature to thank him
and urge his continued support of the measure.
' 3. Citizens Advisory Committee. Mr. Robertson reviewed the purpose, schedule and the 15
candidates who filed letters for the Citizens Advisory Committee. After lengthy discussion, the
' Committee felt the CAC should consist of nine or seven members instead of an even number.
The Committee then reviewed and ranked each candidate so as to narrow the list to nine and
seven candidates. The Committee will present this matter and their recommendations to the full
' Board at the February 24, Board of Directors meeting. Mr. Mike Robinson joined the meeting
to discuss this item.
