SUBJECT: Summary Minutes of the Public Information Committee Meeting
' The Public Information Committee held a meeting at 8:00 a.m. on May 4, 1994. Present were
Mike Beverage, Paul Armstrong, William Robertson, Roger Lubin and Michael Robinson. The
following items were discussed at the meeting:
' 1 . Public Information Consultant. Mr. Lubin reviewed letters from five public
information firms pertaining to changes in the District's current program emphasis. The
Committee discussed this matter at length and requested that staff prepare a Request For
Proposal and take it to the full Board for approval. This matter will be presented at the
second Board meeting in May.
2. Water Awareness Month activities. Mr. Robinson presented a status report on the
activities for Water Awareness Month, which is May. In addition, Mr. Robinson reported
that two children in the District won MWDOC's school slogan contest. The Committee
' requested that staff look into a mascot and motto for District use at public events.
3. Discussion of letter regarding S111666. Mr. Robinson discussed an outline for a
' letter regarding SB 1666. The Committee offered advice on this matter.
4. Board Member Comments: Director Armstrong requested that staff consider the
' impact of going to evening Board meetings. Mr. Robertson responded that staff would
oblige any schedule established by the Board, and would prefer that an evening meeting
begin no later than 6:30 p.m. and that the Board would not begin discussion of a new
action item after a specific time.
t Director Beverage asked if the District would like to have a booth at the festival scheduled for
July 8, 9 and 10 at Yorba Linda's new Community Center. Mr. Robertson responded the staff
' would look at the logistics of staffing a booth for a three day event and get back to the full
Board.
